Rainy Day, Radiant Love: Jack & Shireen’s Massachusetts Wedding

There’s a certain kind of wedding that stays with you. Not because the flowers were perfect (though they were), or the timeline went flawlessly (spoiler: we made some day of changes), but because the people made it unforgettable.

Jack and Shireen’s was one of those weddings.

It was August 9th, 2024 at the Montague Retreat Center in Massachusetts. The forecast had been teasing rain all week, but no one expected the tornado warning. Plans shifted in a heartbeat, and their beautiful outdoor ceremony turned into an indoor one. The wind rattled, the rain poured, and yet—inside—it was warm. There was joy. It was theirs.

I’ll never forget meeting these two. Jack is the kind of person who’s reserved at first, but then is quietly funny, with a dry sarcasm that slips in at just the right moment. And Shireen… well, Shireen is human sunshine. Warm, kind, thoughtful—she made every interaction feel like you’d known her for years.

They’d told me from the beginning: no posing, no endless prompts. They wanted the day captured as it unfolded. Real moments. Real emotions. The kind of photos that would make them feel their wedding all over again years from now.

And oh, did their people deliver those moments.

Guests came from near and far, and it felt like every single one of them carried a piece of love for Jack and Shireen in their pockets. Sweet tears were shed when reading the surprise handwritten notes Jack and Shireen had left on their guests plates before dinner. Laughter spilled through the room during the reception. There was dancing from the very first song. And then—two surprises.

First, the father–daughter dance started sweet and traditional, before exploding into Uptown Funk with the kind of choreography that makes you glad you had a front-row seat. Later in the night, the bridesmaids swept in with a coordinated surprise for Shireen, turning the dance floor into a stage and the bride into their gleeful, beaming audience.

By the end of the night, I was buzzing. Fueled by adrenaline, by the sound of clinking glasses and stomping feet, by the sheer goodness of the day. And when I hugged everyone goodbye and headed back to my stay, I had tears in my eyes on the drive home.
